What is Sette Pieghe?
Sette Pieghe is a traditional tie that originated in Italy.
It means "Sette (seven)" and "Pieghe (folds)" in Italian, and is called a "Seven Fold Tie" in English.

As the name suggests, it is crafted with seven folds, using about twice as much fabric as a regular tie, and each one is carefully handmade by skilled artisans.

Most common ties are made with three folds, which is called Tre Pieghe. In addition, Quattro Pieghe, made with four folds, is also well-known.
Simply hearing "seven folds" might sound easy, but the manufacturing method is extremely difficult. It requires understanding the characteristics of each fabric and thread by touch, and folding and tailoring them in a balanced manner.

Furthermore, to create a soft and three-dimensional look, each stitch is sewn by hand.
Because it requires such advanced craftsmanship and an enormous amount of time and effort, Sette Pieghe is considered something special.
Actually, there are many tie brands in the world, but the definition of "seven folds" varies greatly.
Please be aware that even if the inner construction is not seven-folded, it may still be called Sette Pieghe. Also, the folding method and the use of interlining vary considerably by brand.
Therefore, I would be delighted if you could correctly understand Sette Pieghe and appreciate its true value. And I believe it's best to use a Sette Pieghe tie that suits your own preference and is easy to tie.
Next time, I will introduce Cocon's Sette Pieghe, the "Reverse Weave Sette Pieghe." Please look forward to it.
