Hidden Bar Tack & Horseshoe Bar Tack

Cocon ties feature uniquely designed bar tacks in two places on the reverse side. On the reverse side of the front blade is a hidden vertical knit bar tack made from 100% silk high-twist yarn, invisible from the outside. On the reverse side of the tail, we use a horseshoe-shaped knit bar tack made from French cotton embroidery thread.
These bar tacks serve the functional purpose of securely fastening the left and right fabrics, and also act as a decorative element imbued with the craftsman's skill and aesthetic sense.
Both are original details conceived by Cocon, symbolizing artisanal skill with a three-dimensional quality and presence that can only be achieved through meticulous handmade tailoring, one tie at a time.
Furthermore, in the Sette Pieghe model, these bar tacks are positioned as high as possible to facilitate natural distortions and drapes.

Lid-and-Base Type Box (Original V-Cut Box)

For the Sette Piege model, we use a lid-and-base type V-cut box.
Each of these cosmetic boxes is carefully handcrafted by a Hokkaido paper product manufacturer with exceptional skill.
We use fine paper (FSC certified paper) featuring an embossment that resembles the gentle hammered texture of a finely struck mallet.
The brand logo is hot stamped in clear foil on the top and sides, and the lid sides are circularly cut out to reveal the logo on the box sides.
Furthermore, the interior of the box has a two-layer structure with an insert to prevent the tie from creasing, and is also covered with a special paper that gently envelops it like cloth.
These features result in packaging that not only boasts beauty but also offers the joy of opening it and the function of protecting the tie, embodying our complete worldview.

Lining Options

For the Tre Pieghe, there are two types available: a lined model that lavishly uses the same fabric as the outer material for the lining, and a sfoderata (unlined) model with a hand-rolled finish.
We plan to offer both options in the future, allowing you to choose between the lined model, which provides a relatively firm knot, and the sfoderata, which offers a more natural and soft knot, according to your preference.

Special finishing process and strict fabric inspection

Fabrics with an extreme number of threads per inch make it difficult for needles to pass through when sewing, making hand sewing very challenging.
Furthermore, the fabric can be stiff, affecting the comfort of tying the necktie, and there's a problem of creases easily appearing in the fabric after the product is finished.
These problems are resolved by the finishing process after the fabric is woven.
At Cocon, we apply a special finishing process not typically used for neckties to resolve these various issues.
All fabrics that have undergone the finishing process are strictly inspected using tools such as a linen tester (desktop loupe).

Our Commitment to Self-Tie Bow Ties

Bow ties come in two types: those with the wings sewn in place, and those that you can tie yourself. While sewn-in types maintain a consistently neat appearance, COCON has exclusively produced self-tie bow ties since its establishment, driven by the desire for customers to enjoy the charm of an artfully disheveled knot. We invite you to experience the refined styling and varied expressions that emerge with each tie, much like the dimple of a Sette Pieghe tie.

Completely Original Pattern

To reboot the brand, we created new patterns from scratch and went through several prototypes. We ultimately selected two patterns.
One is a bow tie with slightly larger wings to create a flamboyant V-zone, and the other is a narrower bow tie that pairs well with modern jackets featuring slim lapels.
This product uses the former pattern, which has larger wings.

Original Metal Parts

COCON's bow tie metal parts are meticulously crafted one by one by skilled artisans at a Tokyo metalworking studio that has been responsible for producing high-end accessories and parts for renowned domestic and international brands for many years.
Ready-made metal parts commonly used in bow ties are approximately 0.5mm thick and can bend if even a small amount of force is applied.
To enhance strength and safety, COCON uses brass that is 1mm thick, twice the thickness of ready-made metal parts, and creates three types of parts—the hook, the convex ring, and the loop—all from custom molds.
The brand logo is engraved on the hook, and all parts are finished with a lustrous nickel plating.

Ultra-High Density Echizen Woven Labels

The brand and quality tags used on Cocoon products are Echizen woven labels, produced by a woven label manufacturer in Fukui Prefecture with outstanding technology.
For the sette pieghe model, the bar tack position is higher compared to the tre pieghe, so the tag position is adjusted to achieve the most beautiful balance to match this unique design.
Furthermore, to convey the high level of Japanese weaving technology, we are challenging ourselves to express brand logos, QR codes, and care instructions at the world's smallest level.
By using ultra-fine threads, we have made repeated improvements so that each character, though small, can be clearly recognized.
You may not usually pay much attention to these details, but here too lies hidden the advanced technology of which Japan is proud.
