Handmade Tre Pieghe Tie Kokkoku | Plain Black (Level 7)
The Reliability of "Universal Standard" with Added Quality
This Tre Pieghe model uses our plain rep fabric "Kokkoku - Plain".
While simple in appearance, the ridges created by the ultra-high-density woven fabric possess a distinct presence.
Its simplicity makes it a reliable choice that pairs well with any suit or jacket.
This tie is recommended for those trying COCON products for the first time, as well as those who prefer a more basic yet high-quality tie.
Furthermore, as it is easier to handle than the Sette Pieghe, it makes an ideal gift for both frequent tie wearers and those who wear ties less often.
Fabric and Material

Kokkoku | Plain
COCON's universal standard, plain rep fabric "Kokkoku".
This jinme-ori (figured weave) fabric, which we have refined through countless improvements since our founding, is what we confidently recommend the most.
It is a fabric finished with ultra-high-density weaving using special equipment.
Its ridges possess an orderly beauty reminiscent of the "sand ripples in a Japanese dry landscape garden."
To create the most beautiful possible ridges, we relentlessly incorporate the highest techniques and pass them down to future generations—such is the sentiment embedded in Kokkoku.

Ultra-High Density Fabric and Special Finishing Process
This Tre Pieghe model uses "Kokkoku," woven with the same top-grade silk thread as our high-end Sette Pieghe ties, but with an unparalleled ultra-high density weft insertion that is unheard of in ordinary silk weaving.
Fabrics woven with such extreme density are incredibly difficult to sew by hand because needles struggle to pass through them.
Additionally, the stiffness of the fabric can affect the tying comfort of the tie, and there's a problem of "fabric rub" being more prone to appear once the product is made.
To resolve these issues, we employ a special finishing process tailored for ties after the fabric is woven, which eliminates these various problems.
Furthermore, after the finishing process, all fabrics undergo strict inspection using a linen tester (tabletop magnifier) before being made into products.

Thread and Dyeing Named After a Goddess
The raw silk thread used is carefully selected top-grade 6A natural silk.
This top-grade 6A raw thread is in a class of its own; the raw thread itself is named "Flora," after the Roman goddess of flowers, spring, and fertility, and comes with a certificate of authenticity. As the name "Flora" suggests, the cocoons collected in spring, which has the highest quality among all seasons, yield silk of exceptional and rare quality, even among 6A grade.
The pure silk threads produced from these cocoons are then meticulously dyed without compromise by artisans at a long-established dyeing studio in Kyoto, which has been responsible for Japanese dyeing since ancient times. Craftsmen with abundant knowledge and years of dyeing expertise take their time to carefully dye the threads, resulting in truly unique pure silk threads.

Color
The fabric for this product uses Level 7 black silk thread. While "super black," which is said to be blacker than ordinary black, is typically around dyeing level 5, the thread used here is two levels higher, at Level 7. This Level 7 black, considered the highest level for black dyeing, produces a deeper black hue and a sense of luxury.

Tailoring

Handmade Tailoring Without Relying on Machines
Like our high-end Sette Pieghe ties, our Tre Pieghe ties are carefully sewn by skilled artisans by hand, one by one.
While many brands manufacture using machines, COCON's Tre Pieghe ties are also crafted with the highest quality handmade tailoring. From the lining attachment to the tags and bar tacks, every detail is meticulously handmade.
~ What is Tre Pieghe? ~
Tre Pieghe means "three folds" in Italian, and as the name suggests, it is a tie made with three folds. It creates a neat and polished impression, regardless of who ties it, and has been loved by many businessmen for years. Most common ties distributed in Japan are Tre Pieghe, and it is said that factors such as less fabric consumption and the possibility of machine manufacturing contributed to its widespread use.
COCON's Tre Pieghe, while differing from Sette Pieghe in fabric usage and folding method, maintains the same quality in its fabric and unique design specifications, and is also handmade.
This allows you to enjoy COCON products more easily, while still experiencing the same sense of luxury as Sette Pieghe. It is also recommended for those unfamiliar with Sette Pieghe.

Lining Specifications
Our Tre Pieghe models are available in two types: one with a lining luxuriously made from the same fabric as the outer material, and a sfoderata (unlined) model with a hand-rolled hem finish.
For this particular model, we have prepared the lined version. You can enjoy a stable and comfortable feel when wearing it.

Hidden Bar Tack / Horseshoe Bar Tack
This Tre Pieghe model features our unique "bar tack" stitching at two locations on the back. The image shows a horseshoe-shaped bar tack on the narrow end. This bar tack serves the functional role of securely holding the left and right fabrics together, and it is also an ornamental design imbued with the artisan's skill and aesthetic sensibility. While not as prominent as on the Sette Pieghe, the bar tack is positioned as high as possible. This increases the cost due to the greater fabric requirement for the lining, but we intentionally adopt it as part of COCON's pursuit of aesthetic beauty, to express the natural drape and beautiful folds created when worn. On the back of the wide end, there is a hidden vertical bar tack made from 100% silk high-twist yarn, invisible from the outside. On the back of the narrow end, a horseshoe-shaped woven bar tack, made from French cotton embroidery thread, is carefully hand-stitched one by one. The image shows the horseshoe-shaped woven bar tack on the narrow end. Both are original details conceived by COCON, symbolizing artisanal skill with a three-dimensional feel and presence that can only be achieved through handmade craftsmanship.
Auxiliary Materials

Ultra-High Density Echizen Weave Name Tags
The brand and quality tags used on COCON products are Echizen-ori name tags, made by a Fukui Prefecture weaving tag manufacturer with outstanding technical expertise.
For the Tre Pieghe model, since the bar tack position is higher compared to typical ties, we adjust the tag placement to achieve the most beautiful balance in accordance with this unique specification.
Furthermore, to convey the high level of Japanese weaving technology, we are challenging ourselves to represent brand logos, QR codes, and washing instructions at the world's smallest level.
Using ultra-fine threads, we have repeatedly refined the design so that each character, though small, can be clearly recognized.
While it may be a detail not often noticed, it too hides advanced Japanese technology to be proud of.

Kumihimo Loop
The loop attached to the back of the tie, also known as the keeper loop, is typically made from the same fabric as the tie itself. However, at COCON, we use loops created using the traditional Japanese braiding technique of kumihimo.
These kumihimo loops are meticulously crafted one by one for COCON by a long-established kumihimo workshop in Kyoto, making them completely original in specification.
For this Tre Pieghe model, we use a loop made from Kakuyatsugumi kumihimo (square eight-strand braid).
The symmetrically crafted loop exudes a serene beauty, regardless of whether the narrow end is passed through it or not, due to its balanced aesthetics.
You can enjoy the authentic traditional beauty, backed by heritage, from your chest.
Gift Box

Book-style Pasteboard Box
For the Tre Pieghe model, we use a book-style V-cut box. This cosmetic box is meticulously crafted one by one by a paper product manufacturer in Hokkaido with exceptional technical skill. It is a book-style V-cut box made from fine paper (FSC-certified forest paper) characterized by a gentle hammered pattern emboss reminiscent of small hammer strikes. The top surface features an embossed brand logo in clear foil, and the inside of the box has a two-layer structure with a inner cardboard insert to prevent the tie from creasing. By offering not just beauty, but also the joy of opening, the sound of closing, and the function of protecting the tie, we express our world view.
Storage Method
After use, please hang the tie in a well-ventilated, dark place to allow the fabric to dry and wrinkles to restore.
Please be careful not to place it in direct sunlight, as this may cause fading or discoloration.
