Handmade Tre Pieghe Tie - Kokkoku Solid Brown
The comfort of a "universal classic" with added quality
This Tre Pieghe model uses "Kokkoku - Solid," a plain rep fabric.
Despite its simple appearance, the ridges created by the ultra-high density woven fabric exude a definite presence.
And precisely because it's simple, it's a reassuring tie that's easy to pair with any suit or jacket.
This tie is recommended not only for those trying Cocon products for the first time, but also for those who want a more basic yet high-quality item.
Additionally, compared to sette pieghe, it's easier to handle, making it an ideal gift for both frequent tie wearers and those who aren't.
Fabric and Material

Kokkoku | Solid
Cocon's universal classic, the plain rep fabric "Kokkoku."
This is the jingme-woven fabric that we are most confident in recommending, perfected through numerous improvements since our founding.
It is a fabric finished with ultra-high density weaving using a special device.
Its ridges evoke the organized beauty of the "sand ripples in a karesansui (dry landscape) garden."
To create the most beautiful possible ridges, we relentlessly engrave the highest techniques into it, passing them down to future generations—such is the sentiment embedded in Kokkoku.

Extreme Density Woven Fabric and Special Finishing Process
This Tre Pieghe model, like our high-end Sette Pieghe ties, uses "Kokkoku" fabric, which is woven by beating the weft threads at an incredibly high density, far beyond what is typical for silk textiles, using the highest quality silk threads.
Fabric woven with extreme density makes it very difficult for needles to pass through during sewing, making hand-stitching extremely challenging.
Additionally, the fabric can be stiff, affecting the comfort of the tie when worn, and it can also develop marks easily after becoming a finished product.
To solve these problems, a special finishing process tailored for ties is applied after the fabric is woven, resolving these various issues.
Furthermore, after the finishing process, all fabrics undergo rigorous inspection using a linen tester (tabletop loupe) or similar tools before being made into products.

Thread and Dyeing Named After a Goddess
The raw silk yarn used is carefully selected, top-grade 6A natural silk.
This top-grade 6A raw yarn is in a class of its own, bearing the name of the Roman goddess of flowers, spring, and fertility, "Flora," and comes with a certificate of authenticity. True to its name, "Flora" silk is extremely high quality and rare, harvested from cocoons collected in spring, the season with the highest quality, and stands out even among 6A grade silks.
The pure silk thread produced from this is then meticulously dyed without compromise by artisans at a long-established dyeing factory in Kyoto, a city that has been central to Japanese dyeing since ancient times. With extensive knowledge and years of dyeing expertise, these artisans take their time to carefully dye the silk, resulting in truly unique pure silk thread.

Color
Based on Cocon's concept of the best "Azzurro e Marrone," we use fabric made with carefully selected dark chestnut brown (brown B70) pure silk thread. Aiming for a marrone (brown) that matches azzurro (blue/navy) jackets, we intentionally weave with black warp threads to prevent the color from becoming too sweet. In addition to azzurro e marrone, it also pairs exceptionally well with gray jackets.

Tailoring

Handmade tailoring, not machine-made
Tre Pieghe ties, like our high-end Sette Pieghe ties, are carefully handmade by skilled artisans, one by one.
While many brands use machine manufacturing, Cocon's Tre Pieghe ties are also tailored by hand to the highest quality. From the stitching of the lining to the tags and bar tacks, every detail is meticulously handmade.
~What is Tre Pieghe?~
Meaning "Tre (three)" and "Pieghe (folds)" in Italian, it refers to a tie folded three times. It has been loved by many businessmen for years because it always ties neatly and creates a crisp impression. The majority of ties distributed in Japan are Tre Pieghe, and factors such as less fabric usage and the possibility of machine production are said to have contributed to its prevalence.
Cocon's Tre Pieghe differs from Sette Pieghe in fabric consumption and folding method, but the fabric used and the uniquely designed specifications maintain the same quality, and it is also handmade.
This allows you to enjoy Cocon products more easily while still feeling the same sense of luxury as Sette Pieghe. It is also recommended for those who are new to Sette Pieghe.

Lining Specifications
Tre Pieghe models come in two types: one with a lining luxuriously made from the same outer fabric, and a sfoderato (unlined) model with hand-rolled edges.
This particular model features a lined design. You can enjoy a stable and comfortable feel when wearing it.

Hidden Bar Tack & Horseshoe Bar Tack
This Tre Pieghe model features our unique "bar tack" stitching in two places on the back. The image shows the horseshoe bar tack on the small blade.
This bar tack plays a functional role in securely fastening the left and right fabrics, and also serves as an ornamental design imbued with the artisan's skill and aesthetic sense.
While not as prominent as on Sette Pieghe, the bar tack is set as high as possible.
This increases the amount of lining fabric needed, raising costs, but we intentionally adopt it to express the natural distortion and beautiful drape that forms when worn, in pursuit of Cocon's aesthetic.
On the back of the large blade, there is a hidden vertical bar tack made with 100% silk high-twist yarn, invisible from the outside. On the back of the small blade, a horseshoe-shaped bar tack made with French cotton embroidery thread is hand-stitched one by one. The image shows the horseshoe-shaped bar tack on the small blade.
Both are original Cocon details, symbolizing artisan skill with a three-dimensional feel and presence that can only be achieved through handmade craftsmanship.
Auxiliary Materials

Ultra-High Density Echizen-ori Woven Label
The brand and quality tags used in Cocon products are Echizen-ori woven labels, crafted by a Fukui Prefecture label manufacturer with outstanding technology.
In the Tre Pieghe model, since the bar tack position is higher compared to general ties, the tag position is adjusted to achieve the most beautiful balance in accordance with this unique specification.
Furthermore, to convey the high level of Japanese weaving technology, we challenge ourselves to express brand logos, QR codes, and washing instructions at the world's smallest level.
Using ultra-fine threads, we have made repeated improvements so that each character, though small, can be clearly recognized.
It may be a detail you don't usually pay much attention to, but high-quality Japanese craftsmanship is hidden here too.

Braided Cord Loop
The loop attached to the back of the tie, also known as the small blade keeper, is generally made from the same fabric as the main body. However, Cocon uses a loop made using the traditional Japanese technique of kumihimo (braided cords).
This kumihimo loop is carefully crafted one by one for Cocon by a long-established kumihimo workshop in Kyoto, making it a completely original specification.
This Tre Pieghe model uses a loop made from a kaku-yatsu-gumi (eight-strand square braid) kumihimo.
The symmetrically crafted loop exudes a calm beauty, regardless of whether the small blade is passed through it or not, due to its balanced aesthetics.
You can enjoy the certain traditional beauty, backed by tradition, right from your chest.
Gift Box

Book-style Laminated Box
The Tre Pieghe model features a book-style V-cut box.
This gift box is meticulously crafted one by one by a Hokkaido paper container manufacturer with outstanding technical skills.
It is a book-style V-cut box made from fine paper (FSC forest certified paper) characterized by a delicate hammered texture embossing.
The top surface features a clear foil embossed brand logo, and the inside of the box has a two-layer structure with an inner cardboard base to prevent the tie from being crushed.
Beyond beauty, it expresses our worldview by offering the joy of opening, the sound when closed, and the function of protecting the tie.
Storage Method
After use, please hang the tie in a well-ventilated, dark place to allow the fabric to dry and wrinkles to restore.
Please be careful not to place it in direct sunlight, as this may cause fading or discoloration.
