Kokkoku | Solid

Cocon's timeless classic, the plain rep fabric "Kokkoku."
This is the "Jinme-ori" fabric we are most proud to recommend, perfected through countless improvements since our founding. It is woven with ultra-high density using special equipment.
Its ridges possess an orderly beauty reminiscent of the "sand patterns in a Japanese dry garden." To create the most beautiful possible ridges, we relentlessly embed the finest techniques, passing them down to future generations—such is the sentiment behind Kokkoku.

Extreme Density Weave and Special Finishing Process

This bow tie, like our high-end sette pieghe ties, uses "Kokkoku" fabric, which is woven with the finest silk threads. The weft threads are beaten in at an unbelievably high density, far beyond what is normally seen in silk textiles.
Such an extremely dense fabric makes it very difficult for needles to pass through during sewing, making hand-stitching exceptionally challenging. Additionally, the fabric can be stiff, affecting the tie's comfort when worn, and can also be prone to pressure marks after the product is made.
To resolve these issues, we apply a special finishing process tailored to the product after the fabric is woven, effectively eliminating these various problems.
Furthermore, after the finishing process, all fabrics undergo rigorous inspection using tools like linen testers (magnifying glasses) before being made into products.

Threads and Dyeing Named After a Goddess

We use carefully selected, top-grade 6A natural silk for our raw silk threads.
These superior 6A-grade raw threads are in a class of their own. The raw thread itself is named "Flora," after the Roman goddess of flowers, spring, and fertility, and comes with a certification. True to its name, "Flora" silk, harvested in spring when quality is highest, boasts exceptional quality even within the 6A rank, making it extremely fine and rare.
The raw silk threads produced from this material are dyed by artisans at a long-established dyeing studio in Kyoto, a city renowned for its traditional Japanese dyeing techniques, with an uncompromising commitment to excellence. Through the extensive knowledge and years of experience of these artisans, who meticulously dye the threads over time, a truly unique raw silk thread is created.

Color

The fabric for this product uses Cocon's recommended "navy blue (Navy A97)" raw silk thread, perfected through numerous trials. It's a deep navy, reminiscent of the deep sea where light barely penetrates. To enhance the crispness of the navy ridges on the surface, it is deliberately woven with black warp threads. This classic color is a staple that perfectly complements any jacket.

Tailoring

Commitment to Self-Tie Style

Bow ties come in two types: those with pre-tied wings and those that you tie yourself. While pre-tied bow ties always maintain a neat appearance, COCON has exclusively offered self-tie bow ties since its inception, believing in the enjoyment of a casually tied knot. Just like the dimple on a sette pieghe tie, the look changes with each tie, allowing you to enjoy a stylish and expressive look.

Completely Original Pattern

When relaunching the brand, we created new patterns from scratch, going through several prototypes, and ultimately selected two types of patterns: a slightly larger winged bow tie (standard model) for a more華やかな V-zone, and a narrower bow tie (narrow model) that pairs well with modern jackets featuring narrow lapels. This product uses the former, the standard model pattern with larger wings.

Uncompromising Tailoring

Each piece is carefully tailored by skilled artisans in Kyoto, utilizing their exceptional techniques. With the exception of parts that must be sewn by machine, everything is handmade, resulting in a product that feels warm and handcrafted.

Auxiliary Materials

Original Metal Parts

COCON's bow tie metal parts are meticulously crafted one by one by skilled artisans at a specialized metalworking workshop in Tokyo, which has for many years produced high-end accessories and parts for renowned domestic and international brands.
Conventional metal parts used in bow ties are typically about 0.5mm thick and can bend with slight pressure. To enhance strength and safety, COCON uses brass that is 1mm thick—twice the thickness of conventional parts—and has created all three types of parts (hook, convex, and loop) from scratch using custom molds.
Furthermore, the brand logo is engraved on the hook part, and all parts are finished with a lustrous nickel plating.

Ultra-High Density Echizen Weave Brand Name Label

The brand tags and quality tags used on our products are Echizen weave labels, created by a Fukui Prefecture weaving label manufacturer with outstanding technology.
For bow ties, just like sette pieghe and tre pieghe, we adjust the tag's position to achieve the most beautiful balance without making it stand out.
Furthermore, to convey the high level of Japanese weaving technology, we challenge ourselves to express brand logos, QR codes, and washing instructions at a world-class micro-level.
Using ultra-fine threads, we have repeatedly refined the process so that every character, though small, is clearly discernible.
You might not usually pay much attention to this detail, but it too hides a high level of Japanese craftsmanship.

Cosmetic Box

Book-Style Pasted Box

Our self-tie bow ties come in a book-style V-cut box. This cosmetic box is meticulously crafted one by one by a paper product manufacturer in Hokkaido with exceptional skill. It is a book-style V-cut box made from fine paper (FSC-certified forest paper) characterized by a gentle, hammered-like embossed pattern. The top and sides feature an embossed brand logo in clear foil, and the inside of the box has a two-layer structure with a central platform to keep the bow tie from shifting. Beyond its beauty, it expresses our worldview by offering the joy of opening, a satisfying closing sound, and the functional protection of the tie.

Storage Method

After use, please hang the fabric in a well-ventilated, dark place to dry and allow wrinkles to recover. Do not place in direct sunlight, as this may cause color fading or discoloration. If wrinkles are a concern when untying and retying, please maintain with a steamer or iron steam.
