Self-Tie Bow Tie "Kokkoku" | Solid Brown
"Bow Tie" that unleashes unique individuality
This bow tie uses our plain rep fabric, "Kokkoku - Solid".
While simple in appearance, the ridges created by the ultra-high-density woven fabric emit a distinct presence.
Its simplicity makes it a reliable choice that pairs well with any suit or jacket. We are confident in recommending this top-quality bow tie to both experienced bow tie wearers and first-time users. It also makes a delightful gift for anyone who appreciates fine accessories. We encourage you to try it.
Fabric and Material

Kokkoku | Solid
Cocon's timeless classic, the plain rep fabric "Kokkoku" (刻々).
Since our establishment, we have refined this fabric through countless improvements, making it the jimmeori (ribbed weave) fabric we are most proud to recommend. It is woven to ultra-high density using specialized equipment.
Its ridges evoke the ordered beauty of a dry landscape garden's sand patterns. The desire to create the most beautiful possible ridges, by meticulously embedding the highest level of technology and passing it on to future generations—this is the sentiment woven into Kokkoku.

Extreme Weave Density Fabric and Special Finishing Process
This bow tie, like our high-end sette pieghe ties, uses "Kokkoku," a fabric woven with the finest silk threads, where the weft threads are beaten to an incredibly high density, far beyond what is typical for silk weaving.
Fabric woven to such extreme density makes hand-sewing very difficult, as needles struggle to penetrate. Furthermore, the fabric can be stiff, affecting the comfort of the tie's knot, and prone to marks after the product is made.
To address these issues, a special finishing process is applied after weaving, tailored to the product, resolving these various problems.
After the finishing process, all fabrics undergo rigorous inspection using tools like linen testers (magnifying glasses) before being made into products.

Yarn and Dyeing Named After a Goddess
The raw silk yarn used is carefully selected top-grade 6A natural silk.
This highest-grade 6A raw yarn is in a league of its own, bearing the name of the Roman goddess of flowers, spring, and fertility – "Flora," and comes with a certificate. True to its name, the cocoons harvested in spring, when quality is at its peak, are extremely high-grade and rare silk, even among 6A quality, boasting outstanding quality.
The pure silk threads produced from these cocoons are then dyed without compromise by skilled artisans at a long-established dyeing house in Kyoto, a region with a long history of Japanese dyeing. Artisans with extensive knowledge and years of dyeing experience carefully dye the threads over time, resulting in truly unique pure silk threads.

Color
Based on Cocon's concept of the ideal "Azzurro e Marrone," we use fabric made from carefully selected deep chestnut-brown (brown B70) pure silk threads. Aiming for a marrone (brown) that matches azzurro (blue/navy) jackets, we deliberately weave it with black warp threads to prevent the color from becoming too sweet. In addition to azzurro e marrone, it also pairs exceptionally well with gray jackets.

Tailoring

Commitment to Self-Tie Bow Ties
Bow ties come in two types: pre-tied, where the wings are sewn in place, and self-tie, where you tie the wings yourself. While pre-tied bow ties always maintain a neat appearance, COCON has exclusively produced self-tie bow ties since its establishment, driven by the desire for customers to enjoy the artful disarray of a hand-tied knot. Just like the dimple of a sette pieghe tie, enjoy the elegant styling where the expression changes with each knot you tie.

Completely Original Pattern
In rebooting the brand, we created new patterns from scratch, going through numerous prototypes, ultimately selecting two designs.
One is a standard model with slightly larger wings that create a glamorous V-zone, and the other is a narrower model suitable for modern jackets with narrow lapels.
This product uses the pattern for the former, the standard model with larger wings.

Uncompromising Tailoring
Each tie is carefully tailored by skilled artisans in Kyoto, utilizing exceptional craftsmanship. Apart from parts that necessitate machine stitching, everything is handmade. The result is a tie imbued with the warmth of human touch.
Auxiliary Materials

Original Metal Parts
The metal parts for COCON's bow ties are meticulously crafted one by one by skilled artisans at a specialized metal processing workshop in Tokyo, which has for many years produced high-end accessories and parts for renowned domestic and international brands.
Standard metal parts typically used for bow ties are about 0.5mm thick and can bend with slight pressure. To enhance strength and safety, COCON uses brass that is twice as thick (1mm) as standard parts, and we have created molds for all three types of parts: the hook, the stud, and the loop.
Furthermore, the hook is engraved with the brand logo, and all parts are finished with a lustrous nickel plating.

Ultra-High Density Echizen Weave Label
The brand tag and quality tag used in our products feature Echizen weave labels, created by an unrivaled weaving label manufacturer in Fukui Prefecture.
For bow ties, just like sette pieghe and tre pieghe ties, we adjust the tag's position to achieve the most beautiful balance without being conspicuous.
Furthermore, to showcase the high level of Japanese weaving technology, we challenge ourselves to represent brand logos, QR codes, and washing instructions at the world's smallest level.
Using ultra-fine threads, we have repeatedly refined the labels so that each character, though tiny, is clearly discernible.
While it might not be a detail usually noticed, this too hides the high level of Japanese craftsmanship we are proud of.
Gift Box

Book-Style Pasted Box
Our self-tie bow ties come in a book-style V-cut box. This gift box is meticulously crafted one by one by a skilled paper products manufacturer in Hokkaido, renowned for their exceptional technique. It is a book-style V-cut box made from fine paper (FSC certified) featuring a subtle hammered texture emboss. The top and sides are embossed with the brand logo in clear foil, and the inside of the box has a two-layer structure with a central platform to keep the bow tie in place. Beyond its beauty, it offers the joy of opening, the sound it makes when closed, and the function of protecting the tie, all expressing our worldview.
Storage Method
After use, please hang the tie in a well-ventilated, dark place to dry the fabric and restore any wrinkles. Avoid direct sunlight, as this can cause fading or discoloration. If wrinkles are a concern when untying and retying the knot, please use a steamer or iron steam for maintenance.
