Kokkoku | Solid

The universal classic rep fabric from Cocon, "Kokkoku" (solid color).
Since our establishment, we have refined this jinnokume weave fabric through numerous improvements, and it is the fabric we recommend with the utmost confidence. It is woven with ultra-high density using a special device.
The ridges evoke the serene beauty of the sand patterns in a dry landscape garden. To create the most beautiful possible ridges, we relentlessly incorporate the finest techniques, passing them down to future generations—such is the sentiment behind Kokkoku.

Extreme Weave Density Fabric and Special Finishing Process

This bow tie, like our high-end sette pieghe ties, uses "Kokkoku," a fabric woven with the highest quality silk yarn with an unprecedentedly high weft density, far beyond what is typical for silk textiles.
Fabric woven with such extreme density makes it very difficult for needles to pass through during sewing, making hand-stitching exceptionally challenging. Additionally, the stiffness of the fabric can affect the comfort of the tie when worn, and there's a tendency for shine to appear on the fabric after it's been made into a product.
To resolve these issues, we employ a special finishing process after the fabric is woven, tailored to the specific product, which addresses various problems.
Furthermore, after the finishing process, all fabrics undergo rigorous inspection using a linen tester (magnifying glass) before being made into products.

Yarn and Dyeing Bearing the Name of a Goddess

The raw silk yarn used is carefully selected, top-grade 6A natural silk.
This highest quality 6A-grade raw yarn is superior to other raw yarns, and the yarn itself is named "Flora," after the Roman goddess of flowers, spring, and fertility, and comes with a certification. As the name "Flora" suggests, the cocoons harvested in spring, when quality is highest throughout the year, boast an exceptionally superior and rare quality, even among 6A-grade silks.
The silk yarn produced from this is dyed without compromise by skilled artisans at a long-established dyeing factory in Kyoto, which has been responsible for Japanese dyeing since ancient times. Artisans with extensive knowledge and years of dyeing experience carefully dye the yarn over time, resulting in truly unique silk yarn.

Color

The fabric for this product uses Level 7 black silk yarn. Super black, which is said to be blacker than regular black, is typically dyeing level 5, but the yarn used here has been raised an additional two levels to level 7. This Level 7 black, considered the highest level for black dyeing, creates an even deeper black hue and a sense of luxury.

Tailoring

Commitment to Self-Tie Bow Ties

Bow ties come in two types: those with pre-tied wings and those that you tie yourself. While pre-tied bow ties always maintain a neat shape, COCON has exclusively produced self-tie bow ties since its founding, driven by the desire for customers to enjoy the effortless knot. Just like the dimple of a sette pieghe tie, the expression changes with each knot, allowing you to enjoy a stylish look.

Completely Original Pattern

When rebooting the brand, we created new patterns from scratch, went through repeated prototyping, and ultimately selected two patterns.
One is a bow tie with slightly larger wings (standard model) that creates a glamorous V-zone, and the other is a narrower bow tie (narrow model) that pairs well with modern jackets with narrow lapels.
This product uses the narrow model pattern, which has slimmer wings.

Uncompromising Tailoring

Each piece is carefully tailored by highly skilled artisans in Kyoto. With the exception of parts that must be machine-stitched, everything is handmade, resulting in a product that embodies a sense of artisanal warmth.

Auxiliary Materials

Original Metal Parts

The metal parts for COCON's bow ties are meticulously crafted one by one by skilled artisans at a specialized metalworking studio in Tokyo, which has been responsible for producing high-end accessories and parts for renowned domestic and international brands for many years.
Standard metal parts commonly used for bow ties are approximately 0.5mm thick and bend easily with slight pressure. To enhance strength and safety, COCON uses brass that is 1mm thick, twice the thickness of standard metal parts, and has created all three types of parts—the hook, the stud, and the loop—from custom molds.
Additionally, the brand logo is engraved on the hook, and all parts are finished with a lustrous nickel plating.

Ultra-High Density Echizen Woven Label

The brand and quality tags used in our products are Echizen woven labels, produced by a highly skilled woven label manufacturer in Fukui Prefecture.
For bow ties, just like sette pieghe and tre pieghe ties, the tag's position is adjusted to achieve the most beautiful balance without being overly conspicuous.
Furthermore, to showcase the high level of Japanese weaving technology, we have challenged ourselves to represent the brand logo, QR code, and washing instructions at the world's smallest level.
Using ultra-fine threads, we have repeatedly improved the design so that each character is clearly discernible despite its small size.
While it may be a detail that usually goes unnoticed, it is another example of Japan's proud and advanced technology.

Packaging Box

Book-Style Pasted Box

Our self-tie bow ties come in a book-style V-cut box. This cosmetic box is meticulously crafted one by one by a skilled paper goods manufacturer in Hokkaido. It's a book-style V-cut box made from fine paper (FSC certified forest paper) featuring a gentle hammered pattern embossing that resembles fine tapping. The brand logo is debossed in clear foil on the top and sides, and the inside of the box has a two-layer structure with a central platform to keep the bow tie from moving. Beyond its beauty, it expresses our worldview by offering the joy of opening, the sound it makes when closed, and the function of protecting the tie.

Storage Method

After use, please hang the fabric in a well-ventilated, dark place to dry and allow wrinkles to restore. Please note that direct sunlight may cause color fading or discoloration. If you are concerned about wrinkles when untying and retying the knot, please maintain it with a steamer or iron steam.
