Kokkoku｜Solid

Cocon's universal classic, the solid rep fabric "Kokkoku."
Since our establishment, we have repeatedly refined and perfected this fabric, which is our most confidently recommended jinme-ori weave. It is woven with ultra-high density using special equipment.
Its ridges possess an orderly beauty reminiscent of the "sand ripples in a karesansui garden." Our dedication to achieving the most beautiful possible ridges involves relentlessly imbuing the highest level of technique, to be passed down to future generations—such is the sentiment embedded in Kokkoku.

Ultra-High Density Woven Fabric and Special Finishing Process

This bow tie uses "Kokkoku" fabric, which, like our high-end sette pieghe ties, is woven from the finest silk yarn with an extraordinarily high density of weft threads, a density unheard of in regular silk weaving.
Fabric woven to such extreme density makes it very difficult for needles to pass through during sewing, posing significant challenges for hand-stitching. Furthermore, the fabric can be stiff, affecting the comfort of the tie when worn, and it tends to show marks after the product is completed.
To resolve these issues, a special finishing process is applied after weaving, tailored to the product, which effectively addresses these various problems.
After the finishing process, all fabrics undergo strict inspection using tools such as linen testers (tabletop magnifiers) before being made into products.

Yarn and Dyeing Bearing the Name of a Goddess

The raw silk yarn used is carefully selected, top-grade 6A natural silk.
This highest grade 6A raw yarn is in a class of its own, bearing the name of the Roman goddess of flowers, spring, and fertility, "Flora," and comes with a certificate of authenticity. As its name suggests, "Flora" is an exceptionally high-quality and rare silk, harvested from cocoons collected in spring, the season with the highest quality, and standing out even among 6A grade silks.
The pure silk yarn produced from this is then meticulously dyed by skilled artisans at a long-established dyeing workshop in Kyoto, a city historically central to Japanese dyeing, with no compromise on quality. Through the careful and time-consuming work of artisans with abundant knowledge and years of dyeing expertise, truly unique pure silk yarn is created.

Color

The fabric for this product is woven using rare silk top yarn, which undergoes twice as many processes as regular silk yarn, and two types of pure silk yarn of different thicknesses. By crushing multiple colors of silk and re-spinning them into yarn, we create silk top yarn with a unique luster and mélange effect. By further adding two shades of gray during weaving, we achieve a uniquely deep heather charcoal gray.

Commitment to the self-tie type

Bow ties come in two types: those with pre-tied wings and those that you tie yourself. While the pre-tied type always maintains a perfect shape, COCON has only made self-tie bow ties since its inception, as we want our customers to enjoy the charm of a casually tied knot. Just like the dimple in a sette pieghe tie, please enjoy the elegant styling where the expression changes with each knot.

Completely Original Pattern

Upon rebooting the brand, we started from scratch to create new patterns, going through many prototypes, and ultimately selecting two styles.
One is a bow tie with slightly larger wings (standard model) that creates a flamboyant V-zone, and the other is a narrower bow tie (narrow model) that pairs well with modern jackets featuring narrow lapels.
This particular bow tie uses the latter, the narrow model pattern with slender wings.

Uncompromising Craftsmanship

Each tie is meticulously crafted by skilled artisans in Kyoto. With the exception of parts that must be machine-stitched, everything is handmade. The finished product exudes a handcrafted warmth.

Original Metal Parts

COCON's bow tie metal parts are meticulously crafted one by one by skilled artisans at a specialized metalworking workshop in Tokyo, which has for many years produced high-end accessories and parts for renowned domestic and international brands.
Conventional metal parts typically used for bow ties are about 0.5mm thick and can easily bend with slight pressure. To enhance strength and safety, COCON uses brass that is 1mm thick, double the thickness of standard parts, and has custom-designed all three types of parts: the hook, the stud, and the loop.
Furthermore, the brand logo is engraved on the hook, and all parts are finished with a lustrous nickel plating.

Ultra-High Density Echizen Woven Label

The brand tags and quality tags used in our products are Echizen woven labels, crafted by a highly skilled woven label manufacturer in Fukui Prefecture.
For bow ties, just like sette pieghe and tre pieghe ties, the tag's position is adjusted to achieve the most beautiful balance without being conspicuous.
Furthermore, to convey the high level of Japanese weaving technology, we are challenging ourselves to express the brand logo, QR code, and washing instructions at a world-class micro-level.
Using ultra-fine threads, we have repeatedly refined the design so that each character, though small, is clearly discernible.
While it may be an often-overlooked detail, this is another place where Japan's proud high technology is hidden.

Presentation Box

Book-Style Pasted Box

Our self-tie bow ties are presented in a book-style V-cut box. Each of these presentation boxes is meticulously handcrafted by a highly skilled paper product manufacturer in Hokkaido. It's a book-style V-cut box made from fine paper (FSC-certified forest paper) featuring a delicate hammered texture embossing, reminiscent of fine hammering. The brand logo is clear-foil embossed on the top and sides, and the inside of the box has a two-layer structure with an insert to keep the bow tie in place. Beyond its beauty, it expresses our brand's world view by offering the joy of opening, a satisfying closing sound, and the functional benefit of protecting the tie.

Storage Method

After use, please hang the fabric in a well-ventilated, dark place to allow it to dry and for wrinkles to recover. Be careful not to expose it to direct sunlight, as this may cause fading or discoloration. If you notice wrinkles when untying and retying the bow tie, please maintain it with a steamer or iron steam.
