Handmade Tre Pieghe Tie - Kokkoku | Stripe 01 Melange Navy
Enjoy the quiet rhythm of woven patterns in a natural way
This Tre Pieghe model features the "Kokkoku - Stripe 01" rep fabric with a striped pattern.
Like the plain Kokkoku fabric, the ridges created by the ultra-high-density weave, while seemingly simple, possess a distinct presence.
By combining two stripes of different widths, we have achieved a sharp look that was not possible with plain fabrics.
The understated pattern makes it highly versatile, resulting in a tie that naturally blends with various suits and jackets.
Tre Pieghe ties, made with three folds, are favored by many businessmen for their ability to naturally create a beautiful knot.
Most ties sold in Japan also use this Tre Pieghe construction.
This tie is recommended not only for those trying Cocon's products for the first time, but also for those who want a basic yet high-quality tie.
Furthermore, it is easier to handle than the Sette Pieghe and is suitable for everyday use, making it an ideal product for those who regularly wear ties, as well as a perfect gift.
Fabric and Materials

Kokkoku | Stripe 01
Cocon's timeless classic, the striped rep fabric "Kokkoku."
Since its establishment, Kokkoku has undergone numerous improvements to become our most confidently recommended rep weave fabric.
It is a fabric woven with ultra-high density using a special device.
Its ridges possess an orderly beauty reminiscent of the sand patterns in a dry landscape garden.
To create the most beautiful ridges possible, we are dedicated to applying the highest techniques and passing them down to future generations—such is the sentiment embodied in Kokkoku.
For Kokkoku Stripe, we have partially changed the fabric used from the plain Kokkoku.
In addition to gray, the two colors navy and brown also feature a melange, heathered tone.
You can enjoy the deep, beautiful contrast created by the interplay with the stripes.
Due to the use of silk top yarn and spun silk yarn, there may be slight fuzz on the fabric surface.
Also, please note that there may be individual differences in texture due to the production lot of the yarn.
This does not affect the quality, and we hope you enjoy the unique expression of the fabric.

Extremely Dense Woven Fabric and Special Finishing Process
This Tre Pieghe model, like our high-end Sette Pieghe ties, uses "Kokkoku" fabric, which is woven with the finest silk threads, incredibly densely packed with weft threads—far beyond what is typically seen in silk weaving.
Fabric woven to such extreme density makes it very difficult to pass a needle through during sewing, presenting a challenge for hand-stitching.
Additionally, the stiffness of the fabric can affect the comfort of tying the tie and can lead to nap marks appearing on the fabric after the product is finished.
To address these issues, we employ a special finishing process after weaving the fabric, tailored specifically for ties, which resolves these various problems.
Furthermore, all finished fabrics are rigorously inspected using a linen tester (a magnifying glass) before being made into products.

Yarn and Dyeing Named After a Goddess
The raw silk yarn used is carefully selected, top-grade 6A natural silk.
This finest 6A grade raw yarn stands apart from other raw yarns; the raw yarn itself is named "Flora," after the Roman goddess of flowers, spring, and abundance, and comes with a certificate of authenticity. True to its name, "Flora" silk is harvested in spring, when the quality is highest among all seasons, and boasts exceptionally superior and rare quality even within the 6A grade.
The pure silk yarn produced from this is dyed by artisans at a long-established dye house in Kyoto, a region historically responsible for Japanese dyeing, with no compromise on quality. Craftsmen with extensive knowledge and years of dyeing experience carefully dye the yarn over time, creating truly unique pure silk yarn.

Color
The fabric of this product is woven using rare silk top yarn, which undergoes twice as many processes as regular silk yarn, and two types of pure silk yarn with different thicknesses. By crushing multiple colors of silk once and re-spinning them into yarn, we create silk top yarn with a unique luster and melange effect, and by further weaving in two shades of navy, we achieve a deep, unparalleled navy color. For the white stripe sections, we intentionally use different yarns: tussah silk for the thicker line and cultivated silk for the thinner line.

Tailoring

Handmade Tailoring Without Relying on Machines
The Tre Pieghe tie, like our high-end Sette Pieghe tie, is carefully hand-sewn by skilled artisans.
While many brands manufacture using machines, Cocon tailors its Tre Pieghe ties with the highest quality handmade craftsmanship. From the lining stitching to the tag and bar tack, every detail is meticulously handmade.
~What is Tre Pieghe?~
Meaning "Tre (3)" and "Pieghe (folds)" in Italian, it is a tie made with three folds. It creates a clean knot no matter who ties it and gives a sharp impression, which is why it has been loved by many businessmen for years. The majority of common ties distributed in Japan are Tre Pieghe, and factors such as less fabric consumption and the possibility of machine manufacturing are said to have contributed to its prevalence.
Cocon's Tre Pieghe differs from Sette Pieghe in fabric consumption and folding method, but the quality of the fabric used and the unique design specifications remain the same, and it is also handmade.
This allows you to enjoy Cocon products more easily while experiencing the same sense of luxury as Sette Pieghe. It is also a recommended product for those unfamiliar with Sette Pieghe.

Lining Specifications
The Tre Pieghe model comes in two types: one with a lining made of the same luxurious outer fabric, and a sfoderata (unlined) model with a hand-rolled three-fold finish.
This particular model features a lined design. You can enjoy a stable and comfortable feel when wearing it.

Hidden Bar Tack and Horseshoe Bar Tack
This Tre Pieghe model features unique "bar tack" stitching in two places on the back. The image shows the horseshoe bar tack on the narrow end.
This bar tack serves the functional role of securely fastening the left and right fabrics, and also acts as a decorative design imbued with the artisan's skill and aesthetic sense.
While not as extensive as the Sette Pieghe, the bar tack is positioned as high as possible.
Although this increases the fabric consumption for the lining and thus the cost, we deliberately adopt it to express the natural drape and beautiful distortion that occurs when tied, as a pursuit of Cocon's aesthetic vision.
On the back of the wide end, there is a hidden vertical knitted bar tack made of 100% strong twisted silk yarn, invisible from the outside. On the back of the narrow end, a horseshoe knitted bar tack made of French cotton embroidery thread is carefully hand-stitched one by one. The image shows the horseshoe knitted bar tack on the narrow end.
Both are original details conceived by Cocon, symbolizing artisan skill with a three-dimensional feel and presence that can only be achieved through handmade craftsmanship.
Auxiliary Materials

Ultra-High Density Echizen Woven Label
The brand tags and quality tags used in Cocon products are Echizen woven labels, crafted by a weaving label manufacturer in Fukui Prefecture with outstanding technical skills.
In the Tre Pieghe model, the bar tack position is higher compared to general ties, so we adjust the tag position to achieve the most beautiful balance according to this unique specification.
Furthermore, to convey the high level of Japanese weaving technology, we challenge ourselves to express brand logos, QR codes, and washing instructions at the world's smallest level.
Using ultra-fine threads, we have repeatedly improved the design so that each character, though small, can be clearly recognized.
You may not usually pay much attention to this detail, but it also hides Japan's proud advanced technology.

Kumihimo Loop
The loop on the back of the tie, also known as the keeper, is typically made from the same fabric as the main body. However, Cocon uses a loop made with kumihimo, a traditional Japanese braiding technique.
This kumihimo loop is carefully crafted one by one for Cocon by a long-established kumihimo workshop in Kyoto, making it a completely original specification.
This Tre Pieghe model features a loop made of square eight-braid kumihimo.
The symmetrically crafted loop, with its beautiful balance, exudes a calm beauty whether the narrow end is passed through it or not.
You can enjoy the certain traditional beauty, backed by tradition, from your chest.
Gift Box

Book-Style Pasted Box
For the Tre Pieghe model, we use a book-style V-cut box.
This cosmetic box is carefully crafted one by one by a paper product manufacturer in Hokkaido with excellent technical skills.
It is a book-style V-cut box made from fine paper (FSC forest certified paper) featuring a gentle hammered embossment pattern.
The brand logo is stamped with clear foil on the top surface, and the inside of the box has a two-layer structure with an insert to prevent the tie from being crushed.
We express our worldview not only through beauty, but also through the joy of opening it, the sound it makes when closed, and its function to protect the tie.
Storage Method
After use, please hang the tie in a well-ventilated, dark place to dry the fabric and restore its wrinkles. Avoid direct sunlight, as it may cause fading or discoloration.
