Handmade Sette Pieghe Tie Kokkoku | Solid Navy
Enjoy a timeless classic with the finest tailoring.
This Sette Pieghe model uses our "Kokkoku | Solid" repp fabric.
Simple yet versatile, this tie pairs well with any suit or jacket.
The ribbed texture, unique to high-density woven fabric, gives it a rich, substantial presence despite its solid color. We highly recommend this product to those who felt traditional ties were lacking or who seek the distinctive texture and special feel of handmade items.
Furthermore, it makes a special gift for connoisseurs of Sette Pieghe, as it's unlikely to be duplicated by others.
Fabric and Material

Kokkoku | Solid
Cocon's timeless classic, the "Kokkoku" (meaning "moment by moment") solid repp fabric.
This jingome-ori (woven with a raised pattern) fabric, perfected through numerous improvements since our founding, is what we recommend with the utmost confidence.
It is made using a special device for ultra-high-density weaving. For this Sette Pieghe model, we've incorporated a unique buffer structure made of spun silk across the entire back to reduce fabric indentation.
Its ribs exhibit an orderly beauty reminiscent of "Karesansui (dry landscape garden) sand patterns." To create the most beautiful ribs possible, we've poured the highest level of craftsmanship into every detail, passing it down through generations—this sentiment is embodied in Kokkoku.

Ultra-High-Density Woven Fabric and Special Finishing Process
"Kokkoku" is woven by using the highest-grade silk threads, with weft threads woven at an incredibly high density, far beyond that of ordinary silk fabrics.
Fabric woven at such extreme density is very difficult to sew by hand, as needles struggle to pass through.
Additionally, the fabric can be stiff, affecting the comfort of the tie's drape, and is prone to showing marks after being made into a product.
To resolve these issues, a finishing process is applied after weaving the fabric. Especially for Sette Pieghe, where a natural drape is crucial, a special, non-standard finishing process tailored for ties is used to address these various problems.
Furthermore, after the finishing process, all fabrics undergo strict inspection using tools like a linen tester (tabletop loupe) before being made into products.

Threads Bearing the Name of a Goddess and Dyeing
The raw silk yarn used is carefully selected top-grade 6A natural silk.
This superior 6A grade raw yarn stands apart from others; the raw yarn itself is named "Flora," after the Roman goddess of flowers, spring, and fertility, and comes with a certificate of authenticity. As its name "Flora" suggests, the cocoons harvested in spring, the season of highest quality, produce an extremely fine and rare silk, even within the 6A grade.
The raw silk thread created from this is then meticulously dyed by artisans at a long-established dyeing house in Kyoto, which has historically been responsible for Japanese dyeing, with no compromises. By taking their time and carefully dyeing the threads, artisans with extensive knowledge and years of dyeing experience create truly unique raw silk threads.

Color
The fabric for this product uses Cocon's recommended "navy blue (Navy A97)" pure silk thread, with the color perfected through repeated test weaving. It's a deep navy blue inspired by the almost lightless deep sea, deliberately woven with black warp threads to enhance the navy blue of the surface ribs. It's a classic, traditional color that seamlessly complements any jacket color.

Tailoring

Handmade by Skilled Artisans
Each piece is meticulously crafted by skilled artisans. As only one tie can be produced per day, stock may be irregular. We deliver a gem of a tie, meticulously crafted in every detail, from materials and patterns to sewing and secondary materials.
Currently, artisans capable of creating authentic Sette Pieghe in Japan are extremely rare, making handmade Sette Pieghe ties from Japan incredibly scarce. Each Sette Pieghe tie, carefully handcrafted by skilled artisans, possesses the soft, full appearance unique to handmade items, exuding a distinct presence not found in machine-made ties. Furthermore, the wearing comfort differs from regular ties, allowing you to enjoy a three-dimensional knot and an elegant dimple.
~What is Sette Pieghe?~
An traditional tie originating from Italy, "Sette" means "seven" and "Pieghe" means "folds" in Italian, hence it's called a "Seven Fold Tie" in English. As the name suggests, it is crafted with seven folds, using approximately twice the amount of fabric as a regular tie, and each one is carefully made by hand by skilled artisans. While "seven folds" may sound simple, the manufacturing process is highly difficult, requiring an artisan to understand the characteristics of each fabric and thread by touch, fold them in a balanced way, and tailor them. Furthermore, to create a soft, three-dimensional look, each stitch is sewn by hand. Due to the high level of craftsmanship and immense time and effort required, Sette Pieghe ties are considered special.

Reverse-Fold Sette Pieghe
While typical Sette Pieghe ties are folded so that the fabric overlaps on the front side, Cocon adopts a unique tailoring method that folds the fabric in the opposite direction (towards the back side where the brand tag is attached). This is an original Cocon specification devised to minimize any fabric indentation that may occur after tailoring.

Hidden Bar Tack & Horseshoe Bar Tack
Two unique bar tack stitches are used on the back. The image shows the horseshoe shape on the narrow end.
On the back of the wide end, there is a hidden vertical bar tack made with 100% highly twisted silk thread, invisible from the outside. On the back of the narrow end, a horseshoe-shaped bar tack made with French cotton embroidery thread is used. These bar tack stitches serve a functional role in securely holding the left and right fabrics, and also act as a decorative design imbued with the artisan's skill and aesthetic sense.
Both are original details conceived by Cocon, symbolizing artisan skill with a three-dimensional feel and presence that can only be achieved through meticulous hand-tailoring of each piece.
Furthermore, in this Sette Pieghe model, these bar tacks are positioned as high as possible to facilitate natural distortion and drape.
Beyond that, you can fully appreciate the highly skilled tailoring (seven folds) hidden within.

Industry's First Removable Interlining
The Sette Pieghe ties feature an industry-first removable interlining, conceived uniquely by Cocon. This interlining is inserted to prevent the characteristic folds of the Sette Pieghe from leaving marks on the outer fabric and is meant to be removed by the customer before use.
Please enjoy this thoughtful, ritual-like moment.
~Please follow these steps to remove the removable interlining before use~
1. Locate the white basting stitch in the middle of the tie (at the diagonal seam).
2. Gently pull this thread to release the black removable interlining inside the tie.
3. Carefully and gently pull out the black interlining visible on the back of the wide end.

Auxiliary Materials

Ultra-High-Density Echizen Woven Label
The brand and quality tags used in our products are Echizen woven labels, produced by a highly skilled woven label manufacturer in Fukui Prefecture.
For the Sette Pieghe model, since the bar tack position is higher compared to the Tre Pieghe, the tag position is adjusted to achieve the most beautiful balance in accordance with this unique design.
Furthermore, to convey the high level of Japanese weaving technology, we challenge ourselves to express brand logos, QR codes, and washing instructions at a world-class micro-level. We have used ultra-fine threads and made repeated improvements to ensure that each character, though small, is clearly recognizable. While these may be details not usually paid attention to, they too hide the proud high technology of Japan.

Asymmetrical Braided Loop (Square Eight-Braid x Hanging Four-Braid)
The loop found on the back of a tie, also known as the keeper loop, is typically made from the same fabric as the main body.
However, at Cocon, we employ a loop crafted using the traditional Japanese art of kumihimo (braiding). This kumihimo loop is meticulously handmade for Cocon by a long-established kumihimo workshop in Kyoto, making it a completely original specification.
This Sette Pieghe tie features an asymmetrical loop made from two types of kumihimo: a square eight-braid and a hanging four-braid.
While using two types of braids adds to the effort and cost, we intentionally craft an asymmetrical structure out of what would otherwise be symmetrical, expressing dynamism and freedom.
Furthermore, as asymmetry symbolizes "incompleteness," this special specification embodies our desire to continue growing and evolving.
Presentation Box

Lid-and-Base Box
For the Sette Pieghe model, we use a V-cut lid-and-base box.
This presentation box is meticulously handcrafted by a highly skilled paper box manufacturer in Hokkaido. It uses fine paper (FSC-certified paper) characterized by a gentle hammered pattern embossing, like finely tapped with a hammer. The brand logo is embossed with clear foil on the top and sides, and the side of the lid is circularly cut out so that the side logo is visible.
Moreover, the interior of the box has a two-layer structure with an inner cardboard to prevent the tie from being crushed, and it is also wrapped in special paper as if gently enfolding it in cloth.
These elements combine to create packaging that not only offers beauty and the joy of opening but also functions to protect the tie, embodying our complete worldview.
Storage Method
After use, please hang the tie in a well-ventilated, dark place to dry the fabric and restore any wrinkles. Be careful not to place it in direct sunlight, as this may cause fading or discoloration.
Additionally, to prevent fabric marks (pressure marks) unique to Sette Pieghe ties, please store them hanging, ensuring they do not come into contact with other objects as much as possible.
