Handmade Sette Pieghe Tie Kokkoku|Stripe 01 Black (Level 7)
Enjoy the quiet rhythm woven by the fabric with the finest tailoring
This sette pieghe model features "Kokkoku - Stripe 01," a striped rep fabric.
Like the plain Kokkoku fabric, the ridges created by the ultra-high-density woven fabric, while seemingly simple, possess a distinct presence.
By combining two stripes of different widths, it achieves a sharper expression not found in plain fabrics.
Its modest pattern makes it highly versatile, resulting in a tie that naturally blends with various suits and jackets.
This model is highly recommended for those who found traditional ties uninspiring, or who seek the unique texture and special feel of handmade craftsmanship.
Furthermore, for those well-versed in sette pieghe, it makes for a memorable and special gift, with little chance of duplication.
Fabric and Material

Kokkoku|Stripe
Kokkon's timeless classic, "Kokkoku" rep fabric with a striped pattern.
Kokkoku is our most confidently recommended rep fabric, perfected through numerous improvements since our establishment.
Woven with an ultra-high density using special equipment, this sette pieghe model features a unique buffer structure made of spun silk on the entire back to reduce fabric marks.
Its ridges possess the serene beauty reminiscent of "kare-sansui" (dry landscape garden) sand patterns.
To create the most beautiful possible ridges, we relentlessly embed the finest techniques and pass them down to future generations—such is the sentiment behind Kokkoku.
For Kokkoku Stripe, some of the fabric used is changed from Kokkoku Plain.
In addition to gray, navy and brown also feature melange-like heathered colors.
You can enjoy the beautiful, deep contrast created by the interplay of the stripes.
As silk top yarn and spun silk are used, slight fuzziness may appear on the fabric surface.
Additionally, please note that there may be individual differences in texture due to production lots of the yarn, etc.
There is no problem with the quality, and we hope you will enjoy it as a unique characteristic of the fabric.

Extreme Density Fabric and Special Finishing Process
"Kokkoku" is woven with the finest silk threads, with the weft woven at an unbelievably high density compared to ordinary silk fabrics.
Fabric woven with extreme density is very difficult to tailor by hand, as needles cannot pass through during sewing.
Furthermore, the stiffness of the fabric can affect the comfort of the tie, and there's a risk of fabric marks appearing after the product is made.
To resolve these issues, a finishing process is applied after the fabric is woven. Especially for sette pieghe, where a natural drape is crucial, a special finishing process, not typically used for ties, is applied to address these various problems.
After the finishing process, all fabrics undergo strict inspection using a linen tester (desktop loupe) or similar tools before being made into products.

Yarn and Dyeing Bearing the Name of a Goddess
The raw silk yarn used is carefully selected, top-grade 6A natural silk.
This highest-grade 6A raw yarn is of a different caliber than other raw yarns, and the yarn itself is named "Flora," after the Roman goddess of flowers, spring, and fertility, and comes with a certification. As its name "Flora" suggests, the cocoons harvested in spring, when the quality is highest throughout the four seasons, are extremely high-quality and rare silk, boasting outstanding quality even among 6A grade.
The pure silk threads produced from this are dyed by skilled artisans at a long-established dyeing house in Kyoto, which has been responsible for Japanese dyeing since ancient times, without any compromise. Artisans with extensive knowledge and years of dyeing intuition meticulously dye the threads over time, resulting in truly unique pure silk threads.

Color
The fabric of this product uses level 7 black silk thread. Super black, which is considered blacker than ordinary black, is typically around dyeing level 5, but the thread used here has been elevated two more dyeing levels to level 7. This level 7 black, said to be the highest black dyeing level, creates a deeper black hue and a sense of luxury. For the white stripe sections, different threads are intentionally used: thick lines are wild silk (tussar silk) and thin lines are domesticated silk.

Tailoring

Handmade by Skilled Artisans
Each item is meticulously tailored by skilled artisans. As the production volume is limited to one tie per day, irregular restocking may occur. We deliver a precious piece crafted with uncompromising attention to material, pattern, sewing, and auxiliary materials.
Currently, artisans capable of authentic sette pieghe tailoring in Japan are extremely rare, making handmade sette pieghe produced in Japan exceptionally scarce. Sette pieghe carefully crafted by skilled artisans possess the characteristic plumpness of handmade items, exuding a unique presence not found in machine-made products. Furthermore, the wearing comfort differs from regular ties, allowing you to enjoy a three-dimensional knot and an elegant dimple.
~What is Sette Pieghe~
An traditional Italian tie, "Sette Pieghe" means "seven folds" in Italian, and is called "Seven Fold Tie" in English.
As its name suggests, it is tailored with seven folds, using approximately twice the amount of fabric of a normal tie, and each one is carefully made by skilled artisans.
While "seven folds" may sound simple, the manufacturing method is extremely difficult, requiring an understanding of the characteristics of each fabric and thread through tactile sensation, and a balanced folding and tailoring. Furthermore, to create a soft, three-dimensional look, each stitch is sewn by hand. Due to the high level of craftsmanship and the enormous time and effort required, sette pieghe are considered special.

Reverse Fold Sette Pieghe
While typical sette pieghe are folded so that the fabric overlaps on the front side, Cocon employs a unique tailoring method that folds in the opposite direction (towards the back side where the brand tag is attached). This is an original Cocon specification devised to minimize fabric marks after tailoring.

Hidden Bar Tack & Horseshoe Bar Tack
Two unique bar tacks are used on the back side. The image shows the horseshoe-shaped bar tack on the narrow end.
On the back of the wide end, there is a hidden vertical woven bar tack made of 100% silk high-twist yarn, invisible from the outside. On the back of the narrow end, there is a horseshoe-shaped woven bar tack made of French cotton embroidery thread. These bar tacks serve the functional role of securely fixing the left and right fabrics, and also function as a decorative design embodying the artisan's skill and aesthetic sense.
Both are original details conceived by Cocon, symbolizing the artisan's skill with a three-dimensional feel and presence that can only be achieved by carefully handmade tailoring.
Additionally, in this sette pieghe model, these bar tacks are set as high as possible to facilitate natural distortion and drape.
Furthermore, you can fully appreciate the highly technical tailoring (7-fold) hidden inside.

Industry's First Disposable Interlining
The sette pieghe uses an industry-first disposable interlining conceived by Cocon. This interlining is inserted until it reaches the customer's hands to prevent the fabric folds peculiar to sette pieghe from leaving marks on the outer fabric, and is meant to be removed by the customer before use.
Please enjoy this time, like a careful ritual.
~Please remove the disposable interlining according to the following steps before use~
1. Locate the white basting thread in the middle of the tie (diagonal seam).
2. Slowly pull out this thread to release the fixation of the black disposable interlining inside the tie.
3. Gently and carefully pull out the black interlining visible on the back of the wide end.

Auxiliary Materials

Ultra-High Density Echizen Woven Brand Tag
The brand tags and quality tags used in the products are Echizen woven labels, made by a woven label manufacturer in Fukui Prefecture with outstanding technology.
For the sette pieghe model, since the bar tack position is higher compared to the tre pieghe, the tag position is adjusted to achieve the most beautiful balance according to this unique design.
Furthermore, to convey the high level of Japanese weaving technology, we challenge ourselves to express brand logos, QR codes, washing instructions, and other details at the world's smallest level. By using ultra-fine threads, we have repeatedly improved to ensure that each character is clearly recognizable, even though it is small. While this may not be a detail usually paid much attention to, it hides Japan's proudly advanced technology.

Asymmetrical Braided Loop (Square Yatsu-gumi × Hanging Yotsu-gumi)
The loop on the back of the tie, also known as the keeper, is generally made from the same fabric as the main body.
However, Cocon uses a loop crafted with traditional Japanese kumihimo (braiding) techniques. This braided loop is custom-made for Cocon by a long-established kumihimo workshop in Kyoto, making it an entirely original specification.
This sette pieghe tie features an asymmetrical loop using two types of kumihimo: square yatsu-gumi and hanging yotsu-gumi.
Although using two types of kumihimo requires more effort and cost, by daring to tailor a symmetrical structure into an asymmetrical one, we express dynamism and freedom.
Furthermore, as "asymmetry = incompleteness" symbolizes, it is a special specification that embodies our desire to continue growing.
Decorative Box

Two-piece Lid Box
The sette pieghe model uses a two-piece lid V-cut box.
This box is meticulously crafted by a paper products manufacturer in Hokkaido with exceptional skill. It uses fine paper (FSC-certified forest paper) characterized by an embossed pattern resembling gentle hammering. The brand logo is clear-foil stamped on the top and sides, and the side of the lid is circularly cut out to reveal the side logo.
Furthermore, the inside of the box has a two-layer structure with a middle insert to prevent the tie from being crushed, and it is also covered with special paper as if gently wrapping it in cloth.
These elements create packaging that embodies our worldview, combining beauty with the joy of opening and the function of protecting the tie.
Storage Method
After use, please hang the tie in a well-ventilated, dark place to allow the fabric to dry and wrinkles to restore. Please be aware that direct sunlight can cause fading or discoloration.
Also, to prevent marks (pressure marks on the fabric) from appearing on sette pieghe ties, please hang them so that they do not touch other objects as much as possible.
