Handmade Sette Pieghe Tie Kokkoku|Stripe 01 Heather Brown
Enjoy the quiet rhythm woven by the fabric with the finest tailoring.
This Sette Pieghe model features the striped rep fabric "Kokkoku - Stripe 01".
Similar to the plain Kokkoku fabric, the ridges created by the ultra-high density woven fabric, though seemingly simple, possess a distinct presence.
By combining two stripes of different widths, a sharp look not found in plain fabrics is achieved.
Due to its understated pattern, it is highly versatile and finishes as a tie that naturally blends with various suits and jackets.
This model is highly recommended for those who felt something was lacking in conventional ties, and for those who seek the unique texture and special feel of handmade craftsmanship.
Furthermore, for those well-versed in sette pieghe, it will be a memorable and special tie, as there's little chance of overlap with others.
Fabric and Material

Kokkoku|Stripe
Cocon's timeless classic, the striped version of the rep fabric "Kokkoku."
Kokkoku is a rep fabric (ribbed weave) that we've continuously improved since our establishment and confidently recommend.
This fabric is woven with ultra-high density using a special device. For this Sette Pieghe model, a unique buffer structure made of spun silk is used on the entire back to reduce fabric marks.
Its ridges possess a serene beauty reminiscent of the "sand ripples of a dry landscape garden."
The desire to engrave the highest possible skill into creating the most beautiful ridges and pass it on to future generations is imbued in Kokkoku.
For Kokkoku Stripe, some changes were made to the fabric used compared to Kokkoku Plain.
In addition to gray, the two colors navy and brown also feature heathered, melange-like hues.
You can enjoy the deep, beautiful contrast created by the comparison with the stripes.
Due to the use of silk top yarn and spun silk yarn, there may be slight fuzz on the fabric surface.
Please also note that there may be individual differences in texture depending on the production lot of the yarn.
This does not affect the quality, and we hope you enjoy it as a unique characteristic of the fabric.

Extreme Density Weave and Special Finishing Process
"Kokkoku" is woven by inserting an incredibly high density of weft threads into the finest silk yarn, a density unprecedented in ordinary silk weaving.
Fabric woven with extreme density makes it very difficult for a needle to pass through during sewing, making hand-tailoring extremely challenging.
Additionally, the fabric can be stiff, affecting the feel of the tie when worn, and prone to marks after becoming a product.
To resolve these issues, a finishing process is applied after the fabric is woven. Especially for Sette Pieghe, where a natural drape is crucial, special finishing processes not typically used for ties are employed to solve these various problems.
Furthermore, all finished fabrics are strictly inspected using tools such as linen testers (tabletop magnifiers) before being made into products.

Yarn and Dyeing Named After a Goddess
The raw silk yarn used is carefully selected, top-grade 6A natural silk. This superior 6A grade raw yarn is in a class of its own, bearing the name of the Roman goddess of flowers, spring, and fertility, "Flora," and comes with a certificate. As its name suggests, the cocoons harvested in spring, which has the highest quality among all seasons, produce an extremely high-quality and rare silk that stands out even among 6A grade. The raw silk yarn produced from this is then dyed by artisans at a long-established dyeing house in Kyoto, which has historically been responsible for Japanese dyeing, without any compromise. Artisans with extensive knowledge and years of dyeing experience carefully dye the yarn over time, resulting in truly unique raw silk yarn.

Color
The fabric for this product is woven using rare silk top yarn, which undergoes twice as many processes as regular silk yarn, and two types of genuine silk yarn with different thicknesses. By crushing multiple colors of silk once and re-spinning them into yarn, a unique sheen and melange effect are created in the silk top yarn. We further enhanced this by adding two more shades of brown during weaving, resulting in a distinct melange brown. For the white stripe sections, we intentionally wove them using different yarns: tussah silk for the thicker lines and domesticated silk for the thinner lines.

Tailoring

Handmade by Skilled Artisans
Each tie is meticulously handcrafted by skilled artisans. As the production volume is limited to one tie per day, arrivals may be irregular. We deliver a masterpiece meticulously crafted with attention to every detail, including materials, patterns, stitching, and auxiliary materials.
Currently, artisans capable of tailoring authentic sette pieghe in Japan are extremely rare, making Japanese handmade sette pieghe an exceptionally scarce item. The sette pieghe, carefully handcrafted by skilled artisans, possesses a distinct, plump appearance unique to handmade items, exuding a presence unmatched by machine-made ties. Furthermore, the feel when worn differs from ordinary ties, allowing you to enjoy a three-dimensional knot and an elegant dimple.
~What is Sette Pieghe?~
A traditional tie originating from Italy, "Sette Pieghe" means "seven folds" in Italian, and is called a "Seven Fold Tie" in English.
As its name suggests, it is tailored with seven folds, using approximately twice as much fabric as a regular tie, and is carefully crafted one by one by skilled artisans.
Simply hearing "seven folds" might sound easy, but the manufacturing method is extremely difficult, requiring an understanding of the characteristics of each fabric and thread through tactile sensation, while carefully folding and tailoring to achieve balance. Furthermore, to create a soft, three-dimensional look, every stitch is done by hand. Because it requires such high-level craftsmanship and an enormous amount of time and effort, sette pieghe is considered a special item.

Reverse Fold Sette Pieghe
While conventional sette pieghe ties are folded so that the fabric overlaps on the front side, Cocon adopts a unique tailoring method where the fabric is folded in the opposite direction (towards the back side where the brand tag is attached). This is an original Cocon specification devised to minimize fabric marks after tailoring.

Hidden Bartack / Horseshoe Bartack
Two unique "bartacks" are used on the back. The image shows the horseshoe-shaped bartack on the small blade.
On the back of the large blade, there is a hidden vertical knitted bartack made of 100% highly twisted silk thread, invisible from the outside. On the back of the small blade, a horseshoe-shaped knitted bartack made of French cotton embroidery thread is used. These bartacks serve not only the functional role of securely fastening the left and right fabrics, but also act as a decorative design imbued with the artisan's skill and aesthetic sense.
Both are original details conceived by Cocon, symbolizing artisan skill with a three-dimensional effect and presence that can only be achieved through careful handmade tailoring of each piece.
Furthermore, in this sette pieghe model, these bartacks are positioned as high as possible to facilitate natural distortion and drape.
Beyond that, you can fully appreciate the highly skilled tailoring (seven folds) hidden within.

Industry's First Disposable Interlining
For sette pieghe, Cocon has developed the industry's first unique disposable interlining. This interlining is inserted to prevent the characteristic folds of sette pieghe from creating marks on the outer fabric until it reaches the customer, and it is designed to be removed by the customer themselves before use.
Please enjoy this meticulous, ritualistic process.
~Please follow these steps to remove the disposable interlining before use~
1. Locate the white basting thread in the middle of the tie (at the diagonal seam).
2. Gently pull this thread to release the black disposable interlining inside the tie.
3. Gently and carefully pull out the black interlining visible at the back of the large blade.

Auxiliary Materials

Ultra-High Density Echizen Woven Label
The brand tags and quality tags used in the products are Echizen woven labels, crafted by a weaving label manufacturer in Fukui Prefecture with outstanding technology.
In the sette pieghe model, the bartack position is higher compared to trepieghe, so the tag position is adjusted to achieve the most beautiful balance according to this unique design.
Furthermore, to convey the high level of Japanese weaving technology, we have challenged ourselves to express the brand logo, QR code, and washing instructions at the world's smallest level. We have repeatedly improved the labels using ultra-fine threads so that each character, though small, can be clearly recognized. While this may not be a detail usually paid attention to, it hides Japan's proud high technology.

Asymmetrical Braided Cord Loop (Kaku Yatsu-gumi × Tsuri Yotsu-gumi)
The loop attached to the back of the tie, also known as a small blade loop, is generally made from the same fabric as the main body.
However, Cocon uses a loop crafted using the traditional Japanese braiding technique. This braided loop is painstakingly made one by one for Cocon by a long-established braiding workshop in Kyoto, making it a completely original specification.
This sette pieghe tie features an asymmetrical loop using two types of braided cords: Kaku Yatsu-gumi and Tsuri Yotsu-gumi.
While using two types of braided cords incurs more effort and cost, deliberately tailoring a symmetrical structure into an asymmetrical one expresses dynamism and freedom.
Furthermore, because "asymmetry = incompleteness" symbolizes our desire to continue growing, this is a special specification imbued with that sentiment.
Gift Box

Lid and Base Box
For the Sette Pieghe model, we use a lid-and-base style V-cut box.
This gift box is meticulously crafted one by one by a paper container manufacturer in Hokkaido with exceptional skill. It uses fine paper (FSC certified paper) characterized by a gentle hammered pattern emboss resembling finely hammered marks. The brand logo is embossed with clear foil on the top and sides, and the side of the lid is circularly cut out so that the side logo is visible.
Furthermore, the inside of the box is not only a two-layer structure with a inner card to prevent the tie from being crushed, but it is also covered with special paper that gently wraps the fabric.
These elements combine to create packaging that embodies our worldview, offering not only beauty but also the joy of opening and the function of protecting the tie.
Storage Method
After use, please hang the tie in a well-ventilated, dark place to dry and restore its wrinkles. Be careful not to expose it to direct sunlight, as this may cause fading or discoloration. Also, to prevent marks (pressure marks on the fabric) from appearing on sette pieghe ties, please store them hanging so that they do not touch other objects as much as possible.
