Handmade Sette Pieghe Tie Kokkoku|Stripe 01 Heather Charcoal Gray
Enjoy the quiet rhythm woven by the fabric with the finest tailoring.
This sette pieghe model features the striped rep fabric "Kokkoku - Stripe 01".
Like the plain Kokkoku, the ridges created by the ultra-high-density woven fabric, while seemingly simple, possess a distinct presence.
By combining two stripes of different widths, it achieves a sharper look not found in plain fabrics.
Due to its understated pattern, it is highly versatile and naturally blends with various suits and jackets.
We highly recommend this model to those who have felt something lacking in conventional ties, and to those seeking the unique texture and special feeling of handmade craftsmanship.
Furthermore, for those well-versed in sette pieghe ties, this will be a memorable and special tie, as there is little chance of it being duplicated by others.
Fabric and Material

Kokkoku|Stripe
A striped pattern of Cocon's timeless classic, the rep fabric "Kokkoku."
Since its establishment, Kokkoku is a rep fabric that we are most confident in recommending, completed through numerous improvements.
This fabric is woven at ultra-high density with a special device. For this sette pieghe model, a unique buffer structure made of spun silk yarn is adopted for the entire back to reduce fabric marks.
Its ridges possess an orderly beauty reminiscent of the "sand ripples of a karesansui (dry landscape garden)."
The desire to continue engraving the finest techniques to create the most beautiful ridges possible and pass them down to future generations—that is the sentiment embedded in Kokkoku.
For Kokkoku Stripe, some of the fabrics used have been changed from the plain Kokkoku.
In addition to gray, navy and brown also feature melange-like heather colors.
You can enjoy the deep, beautiful contrast created by the comparison with the stripes.
Due to the use of silk top yarn and spun silk yarn, slight fluffiness may occur on the fabric surface.
Also, please note that there may be individual differences in texture depending on the production lot of the yarn.
There are no quality issues, and we hope you will enjoy the unique expression of the fabric.

Extreme Weaving and Special Finishing Process
"Kokkoku" is woven using the highest quality silk threads, with the weft threads beaten at an incredibly high density, far beyond what is possible in ordinary silk weaving.
Fabric woven with such extreme density makes it very difficult for needles to pass through during sewing, making hand-tailoring extremely challenging.
Furthermore, the fabric can become stiff, affecting the comfort of the tie when worn, and it can also lead to issues like fabric marks appearing after the product is completed.
To resolve these issues, a finishing process is applied after the fabric is woven. Especially for sette pieghe, where a natural wearing comfort is crucial, a special finishing process, not typically used for ties, is applied to address these various problems.
Additionally, all finished fabrics undergo strict inspection using a linen tester (tabletop loupe) before being made into products.

Thread and Dyeing Named After a Goddess
The raw silk yarn used is carefully selected, top-grade 6A natural silk. This top-grade 6A raw silk yarn is in a class of its own, bearing the name "Flora," after the Roman goddess of flowers, spring, and fertility, and comes with a certificate of authenticity. As its name suggests, "Flora" is silk of exceptionally high quality and rarity, collected in spring, the season with the highest quality cocoons, even among 6A grade. The raw silk thread made from this is dyed by artisans at a long-established dyeing factory in Kyoto, which has been responsible for Japanese dyeing since ancient times, with absolutely no compromise. Artisans with extensive knowledge and many years of dyeing experience carefully dye the threads over time, resulting in truly unique raw silk threads.

Color
The fabric of this product is woven using rare silk top yarn, which takes twice as many steps to produce as regular silk yarn, and two types of raw silk yarn of different thicknesses. By crushing multiple colors of silk once and re-spinning them into yarn, we created a silk top yarn with a unique luster and melange feel that is unlike any other. By further adding two shades of gray and weaving them in, we achieved a unique, deep heather charcoal gray. In the white stripe section, a thick line is woven with wild silk yarn (Tussah silk) and a thin line with cultivated silk yarn, intentionally using different yarns.

Tailoring

Handmade by Skilled Artisans
Each tie is handcrafted by skilled artisans. As only one tie can be produced per day, irregular arrivals may occur. We deliver a gem of a tie, meticulously crafted with attention to every detail, from materials and patterns to sewing and auxiliary materials.
Currently, artisans capable of tailoring genuine sette pieghe ties in Japan are extremely rare, making handmade sette pieghe ties from Japan exceptionally scarce. Each sette pieghe tie meticulously handmade by skilled artisans possesses the distinctive soft appearance characteristic of handmade items, exuding a unique presence not found in machine-made ties. Furthermore, the wearing comfort differs from regular ties, allowing you to enjoy a three-dimensional knot and an elegant dimple.
~ What is Sette Pieghe? ~
Sette Pieghe is a traditional Italian tie, meaning "Sette (seven)" and "Pieghe (folds)" in Italian, and is known as "Seven Fold Tie" in English.
As the name suggests, it is tailored by folding the fabric seven times, using approximately twice the amount of fabric as a regular tie, and each tie is carefully handmade by skilled artisans.
Simply hearing "seven folds" might sound easy, but the manufacturing method is extremely difficult, requiring an understanding of the characteristics of each fabric and thread through touch, and the ability to fold and tailor them in a balanced manner. Furthermore, to create a soft and three-dimensional appearance, each stitch is sewn by hand. Due to the high level of craftsmanship, immense time, and effort required, sette pieghe ties are considered special.

Reverse Fold Sette Pieghe
While typical sette pieghe ties are folded so that the fabric overlaps on the front side, Cocon employs a unique tailoring method that folds in the opposite direction (towards the back side with the brand tag). This is an original Cocon specification devised to minimize fabric marks after tailoring.

Hidden Bar Tack & Horseshoe Bar Tack
Two unique "bar tacks" are used on the back. The image shows the horseshoe shape on the small blade.
On the back of the large blade, there is a hidden vertically woven bar tack made of 100% highly twisted silk yarn, invisible from the outside. On the back of the small blade, there is a horseshoe-shaped woven bar tack made of French cotton embroidery thread. These bar tacks serve the functional role of securely fastening the left and right fabrics, and also act as a decorative design embodying the artisan's skill and aesthetic sense.
Both are original details devised by Cocon, symbolizing the artisan's skill with a three-dimensional feel and presence that can only be achieved through meticulous handmade tailoring.
Furthermore, in this sette pieghe model, these bar tacks are positioned as high as possible to facilitate natural distortion and draping.
Beyond that, you can fully appreciate the highly skilled tailoring (seven folds) hidden within.

Industry's First Removable Interlining
For sette pieghe, Cocon has adopted the industry's first removable interlining, conceived in-house. This interlining is inserted until it reaches the customer's hands to prevent the distinctive folds of the sette pieghe fabric from creating marks on the outer fabric. Customers are intended to remove it themselves before use.
Please enjoy this time, like a meticulous ritual, as well.
~ Please follow these steps to remove the removable interlining before use ~
1. Locate the white basting thread in the middle of the tie (at the diagonal seam).
2. Slowly pull out this thread to release the black removable interlining inside the tie.
3. Gently and carefully pull out the black interlining visible on the back of the large blade.

Auxiliary Materials

Ultra-High Density Echizen Woven Name Tag
The brand tag and quality tag used on the products are Echizen woven name tags, crafted by a name tag manufacturer in Fukui Prefecture with outstanding technology. For the Sette Pieghe model, the bar tack position is higher compared to the Tre Pieghe, so the tag position has been adjusted to achieve the most beautiful balance to match this unique design. Furthermore, to convey the high level of Japanese weaving technology, we have challenged ourselves to express the brand logo, QR code, and washing instructions at the world's smallest level. We have repeatedly improved the design to use ultra-fine threads, ensuring that each character is clearly legible despite its small size. While this may be a detail often overlooked, it hides a high level of proudly Japanese technology.

Asymmetric Braided Cord Loop (Kaku-Yatsugumi x Tsuri-Yotsugumi)
The loop attached to the back of the tie, also known as the small blade keeper, is generally made using the same fabric as the main body.
However, Cocon uses a loop made with traditional Japanese kumihimo (braiding) techniques. This kumihimo loop is meticulously crafted one by one for Cocon by a long-established kumihimo workshop in Kyoto, making it a completely original specification.
This sette pieghe tie features an asymmetrical loop made from two types of kumihimo: Kaku-Yatsugumi and Tsuri-Yotsugumi.
Although using two types of braids requires more effort and cost, we intentionally create an asymmetric structure from a symmetrical one to express dynamism and freedom.
Furthermore, "asymmetry = incompleteness" symbolizes our desire for continuous growth, making this a special specification.
Gift Box

Lidded Box with V-Cut
For the sette pieghe model, we use a lidded V-cut box.
This gift box is meticulously crafted one by one by a paper product manufacturer in Hokkaido with exceptional skill. It uses fine paper (FSC-certified paper) characterized by a gentle hammered-like embossed pattern. The brand logo is embossed with clear foil on the top and sides, and the side of the lid is circularly cut out to make the side logo visible.
Furthermore, the inside of the box has a two-layer structure with an inner board to prevent the tie from being crushed, and it is also gently wrapped in a special paper like cloth.
These features resulted in packaging that not only offers beauty but also the joy of opening and the function of protecting the tie, embodying our worldview.
Storage Method
After use, hang the tie in a well-ventilated, dark place to dry the fabric and restore its wrinkles. Please note that direct sunlight may cause fading or discoloration.
Also, to prevent fabric marks (pressure marks) on sette pieghe ties, please store them hanging, ensuring they do not come into contact with other objects as much as possible.
